Punta Cometa, also known as the Sacred Hill (Cerro Sagrado), is the southernmost point of Oaxaca and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. It's a great spot for hiking and watching stunning sunsets. The hike takes you through lush vegetation, and once you reach the viewpoint, you'll be rewarded with a spectacular vista.

Mazunte has a vibrant and diverse cultural scene. Explore the town's art galleries, handicraft markets, and shops to discover unique local art and crafts. Don't miss out on trying the delicious seafood dishes in the local restaurants and experiencing the town's laid-back and welcoming atmosphere.

La Sombrita

Best cocktails in town, right by the beach. Great menu. On the pricey side, but worth it. Find out more here.

FISH and LOVE

Pick your fish or seafood and they'll grill it for you! Served with standard sides, I think it's salad and a baked potato. Get the sauce, it's yummy and not too spicy. Sometimes items come slightly overcooked, but overall fresh and tasty.

Restaurant Tadeo

Good local spot. Cheap and cheerful, have all the mexican classics here. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. I like their diablo sauce, a spicy salsa you can get with fish or shrimp. Expect long wait times, not sure why, but service is usually very slow. More info here.

Maralto Restaurant

Best bakery/Cafe in town. Their baked goods are delicious and their breakfast/lunch menu is diverse and very good. Closed on Tuesdays. Check out more here.

Ícaro Café

Best Pastry Shop in town. Enjoy their chocolatines if you're lucky enough to get there before they sell out. All the pastries and cakes are tasty and are now doing breakfast service I think. Check their instagram here.

El Armadillo Mazunte

Beautiful space, very good all vegan menu, great wine and drinks list. Fun place to go with a group. Make a reservation! More info here.

Lurio

Open breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cheap and cheerful option where the food is good and the beer isn’t over priced. We love it there.

Chiringuitos

Great place and almost the only place on Mermejita beach. Enjoy Spanish style food with live music and a great view of sunset. You can often catch the owner's 4 year old daughter performing on stage. A bit on the pricier side, but the ambiance is worth it!

More about Chiringuitos .

La Bodega

Great garden bar serving the best coffee in the mornings and wonderful cocktails in the evening.

El Tiburon

The juice bar in town, making fresh cold pressed juices, smoothies and smoothie bowls.

La Cuisine

French chef using local ingredients. Always an enjoyable meal here.

Doba

Nice breakfast and lunch menu, lots of healthier options.

Great cocktails and attention to detail, using almost exclusively Mexican products. A good place to buy mezcal, chocolate or other interesting Mexican made goodies,

Luna Nueva

Open breakfast, lunch and early dinner. A great no frills place serving real local food. Great quality for the price.
